I'm still here

Well today it's rainy and windy and very very chilly! Today is a proper winter day and I'm trying to think whether I like it or not...

It's been a long log time since my last post, Christmas holidays are over and I really didn't have the time nor the mood to crochet.

But still, I have finished a couple of projects, even though pinterest was a source for some very appealing projects, that took a great amount of self-restraint not to start crocheting.

I feel that I have to stick on my original plan not to start a new project up until I finish most of my WIPs. But still I have been crocheting a shawl for a dear friend that I want to be finished until the end of this week.

She asked me very nicely if I could do this, and we went together to my favourite yarn store for the yarn. She picked an incredible shade of red that makes you feel happy while working with it. As I have already mentioned I prefer acrylic yarn. It's not that I don't have strong feelings for woolly yarn but I'm practical and I do not like spending much time for blocking. I prefer walking, crocheting, reading....

Today it's the perfect weather for crocheting! No distractions that a sunny day kindly provides. No mood for long walks or biking!

Yesss it is a perfect day for a hot chocolate or a hot tea or even both... back to back!

Bye bye!

A windy mountain walk

Have a nice month everyboby!
Today I woke up in a bad mood, and then friends called and suggested to go for a walk nearby.
And nothing is better than a good sunday morning walk, is it?

So I went, and it was windy and partly cloudy but the sun was bright and we really enjoyed ourselves.

This time of the year the temperature is perfect for wandering around and taking great pictures!

Oh look at these flowers! This shade of yellow it's just divine (mental note: I have to find some yarn in this shade to make an autumn shawl)

The clouds over the fields were breathtaking, I couldn't stop enjoying the view!

Also, I found berries, althought they're not edible, still they look great...

... and acorns...

As I was passing by an olive tree field, I realised that is harvesting time. Maybe next week me we start harvesting family's trees. Oh, I really enjoy having our own virgin oil after so much hard work.
Working on the field make your everyday problems look so tiny, sometimes maybe drives them away.

During October I have crocheted various projects, because it was a month full of birthdays. So, in my next post I will show them to you!

An entirely autumn-y day

This morning I woke up and realized I have caught a cold. Not good, not good at all!
And then I opened the window and saw it was about to rain. Well I know it is autumn but it looked like the weather has forgotten it for the past month or so.

Well back to everyday life, october is a month full of events! On Sunday it was the christening of little Sofia, my dear friend's daughter, and I made this wonderful baby blanket as a present.

I have used 4 skeins of yarn 100 % acrylic 100 g anti - piling, in 4 wonderful shades. I crocheted granny hexagons and joined them as-you-go. I used this pattern after spending many hours searching pinterest for a pattern that was fit.

And then I thought to line the blanket with fabric, and bought a realy soft piece of fleece and took it to my wonderful aunt to machine stitch it. Now the blanket is warmer for the coming winter.

I am so happy with the result!

Look look at the folding! It is sooooo cute!

Tommorow is my mother's birthday, and I am chocheting for her a lovely shawl but I don't think I will be finishing it on time.. hope it will be ready in 3 - 4 days.

Have a nice day!

Last quarter of the year

Hello again!

The idea behind this blog was to post at least once a week if I have something to say.

And then I thought why not have a project on a program? I big project like a blanket. Something overwhelming that I haven't tried before. So, I search through my stash and found several balls of yarn in a nice gray shade.

Bought them, but somewhere in the way stored them away. Now, it is time to use them.

I don't have actually an exact blanket - project in mind, the only thing I know is that I'm going to use all I have. For sure I'm going to use a join-as-you-go method because stitching is BORING!

I have started crocheting October 1st  and today I have 7 basic granny squares.

It is the basic granny square and I use this pattern from a really wonderful lady. I don't know yet how many granny squares I can get out of a ball so I do not know the exact size of the "future" blanket!  I am crocheting in a 4 mm hook and the yarn is 100% premium acrylic, 100 gr., 300m. each. I like crocheting with acrylic yarns because there is no shrinking when washing the projects in the washing machine!

This last quarter of the year also got me thinking of all those unfinished project that all crafters have... and I have many! SO I started finishing some and I will be posting soon the progress.

I have been making and attaching tassels to shawl that was stored away for almost one and a half year.

bye bye for now!

the beginning..

Hello!
This is my first post and I'm so excited! I've wanting for a while to start this blog and now the time has come!

After a "weird" year I'm so happy to finally relax and have time to spend for myself and the things I love. I mean crochet (ofcourse), playing board games with friends and family, walking by the sea and drinking coffee at nice cafes!

Crochet, (as you can understand from this blog's title) plays a big part in this blog. Crochet is something that I enjoy doing in my free tme, it helps me calm and keeps away everyday stress.

Every time I come by a nice crochet pattern and I have to make it, a new adventure begins! I love the time I spent to visit the yarn shop, chat with the nice ladies there, touch the yarns and finally make up my mind about what colour and type of yarn to use. The rush off to start the new project, is unique, everytime!

Thank you for visiting!
